Gradually the magic of the Corfu settles over you as gently and clingingly as pollen. It has been a crossroads of civilizations, from ancient Greeks and Romans to Byzantines, Venetians, and Ottoman Turks. The island flourished under Venetian rule during the Renaissance, leaving a legacy of fortifications, palaces, and art that still graces the landscape today. Later, Corfu became a strategic British protectorate before ultimately joining the modern Greek state in 1864.

Because of this amazing and long history, you feel everywhere you go there is another story to it. More so than any other island in the Ionian.

The above image captures it's most famous corner as you walk into the city of Corfu. If you have been there it is easily recognisable. At the ground floor is a restaurant and you can see people and their shadows within it. Similar to Corfu, I felt this corner tells a similar story. I can see it, but I know there is more to it.

Like many before me, Corfu is an enchanting destination. And this corner with The Enchanted Shadows represents it nicely.
